Ingredients:
- 450 g lean ground beef
- 225g hot or sweet raw Italian sausage, casing removed (ground pork with Italian spices)
- 4 potato hamburger buns, split lengthwise
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1 red onion, sliced 1/2 cm thick.
- 2 bell peppers (red and yellow), cut into 1.2cm wide strips.
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, plus more for greasing
- 1 clove of garlic, grated
- 4 large sheets basilica, torn into pieces
- Warmed marinara sauce for topping

- Potato chips for serving
Preparation:
- In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, sausage, garlic, oregano, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and a few grinds of pepper. Mix with your hands. Form into 4 patties, 2 cm thick. Set aside.
- Heat a grill pan or grill to medium heat. In a bowl, combine the onion, bell pepper, olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and a few grinds of pepper.
Grill the vegetables, turning occasionally, for 7 minutes, until tender and lightly golden. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- Brush a grill pan with olive oil. Add the patties and cook for 4 minutes per side, until cooked through and golden brown. Two minutes before done, top with 1 slice of cheese and cover with a lid.
- Serve the burgers on buns, topped with the onion and bell pepper mixture, basil, and marinara sauce. Serve with chips.
