Monte Cristo sandwiches with Swiss cheese and ham topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp. milk
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 4 tbsp ready-made mango chutney
- 8 slices of whole grain bread
- 340 gr. baked ham, cut into slices
- 230 g Swiss cheese, sliced
Preparation:
- Coat a large griddle or griddle with nonstick cooking spray and place over medium heat.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, mustard, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of mango chutney among 4 slices of bread. Top with ham and cheese. Top with a second slice of bread and place the sandwiches in the egg mixture. Turn to coat both sides.
- Transfer the sandwiches to the hot skillet and cook for 3 to 5 minutes per side, until the cheese begins to melt and is golden brown.
