Kid-Friendly: Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies with Colorful Sprinkles topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp. cake flour
- 0.5 tsp of soda
- 0.5 tsp fine salt
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp. semi-sweet chocolate granules
- 1 tbsp. multi-colored sprinkles
Preparation:
- Position a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl.
- Microwave the butter in a large bowl on high power until completely melted, about 1 minute. Stir in both sugars, then add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until smooth; let cool for 5 minutes. Stir in the flour mixture with a wooden spoon and knead into a dough. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Place the dough in the center of the prepared baking sheet. Using an offset spatula, spread it into a 20 cm (8 in) circle 1 cm (0.5 in) thick. Sprinkle with colorful sprinkles (it will look like a lot, but the sprinkles will spread throughout the cookies as they bake). Bake, rotating the baking sheet halfway through, until golden brown but still soft in the center, 22-25 minutes (the longer you bake, the crispier they will be). Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then use a large spatula to transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice the cookies into wedges and serve.
Note When measuring flour, we spoon it into a measuring cup and remove any excess. If you scoop flour directly from the bag with a measuring cup, you'll compact it, resulting in dry baked goods.
Don't leave your child unsupervised in the kitchen. Limit them to tasks appropriate for their age.
