Hot cocoa spoons topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 12 large candy canes
- 120 g dark chocolate, chopped
- 120 g dark chocolate, chopped
- 120 g white chocolate, chopped
- Mini marshmallows, for decoration
- Small white or dark chocolate chips, for decoration
- Coarsely crushed candy canes for decoration
- Cooking spray
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 135°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Spray 3 tablespoons with cooking spray. Place 3 candy canes on the prepared baking sheet and bake until the candies are soft and pliable and very warm to the touch, 8 to 10 minutes. Carefully lift the cane and place it on one of the greased spoons (if they are too hot to touch, use a paper towel to lift them).
Shape the candy into the template by gently pressing the curved top of the candy into the well of the spoon until it takes its shape; the center of the spoon will remain empty. Press the straight part of the candy into the handle of the spoon. If the candy canes cool too quickly, you can return them to the oven for a minute or two to soften them again. Let the candies cool on the spoons while you reheat the next batch of candy canes; you should have 12 candy canes.
- Melt the 3 types of chocolate in 3 separate small bowls in the microwave at 50 percent power, stirring every 20 seconds.
- Dip the spoons into the melted chocolate; you'll have four of each type of chocolate. Position the spoons so the chocolate-covered indentations rest on a flat surface in the prepared baking sheet, and the handles rest on the edge of the baking sheet.
Let the chocolate harden slightly, 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature or 5 minutes in the refrigerator. Keep the remaining chocolate in the bowls warm and melted, microwaving them as it hardens.
- Fill the empty spaces in the spoons with a small amount of melted chocolate. Sprinkle with marshmallows, chocolate chips, or crushed candy canes, piling them in the center to create a spoon-like appearance. Let set completely at room temperature, about 1 hour, or in the refrigerator, for 15 to 20 minutes.
