Hoagy Sandwich Dip

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized onion
  • 2 pickled peperoncino peppers
  • 1/2 head of iceberg lettuce
  • 1 large tomato (cut in half and remove seeds)
  • 100 g of sliced ​​Genoese salami
  • 100 g of sliced ​​ham
  • 100 g of sliced ​​prosciutto
  • 100 g of roasted turkey slices
  • 100 g of sliced ​​provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1.5 tsp dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp red chili pepper petals
  • 1 loaf (25-30 cm) of round Italian bread
  • 8 hoagie rolls, cut into pieces, for dipping

Preparation:

  1. Cut the onion, pepperoncini, lettuce, and tomato into bite-sized pieces. Dice the meat and cheese.

    Combine chopped vegetables, meat, and cheese in a large bowl. Add mayonnaise, olive oil, oregano, basil, and red chili flakes and mix well. Refrigerate until serving.
  2. Cut out the center of a round loaf of bread to create a "bowl" (do not cut through the bottom) and cut the cut-out portion into small pieces. Serve the dipping sauce in the bread with hoagie rolls for scooping up this deliciousness!
