Soft chewy cookies topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 2 and 3/4 cups premium flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 0.5 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1.5 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3–4 tablespoons of sour milk or kefir
- Sprinkles or colored sugar for decoration
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 190°C.
- In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until smooth. Stir in the egg and vanilla. Gradually whisk in the dry ingredients. Add enough sour milk to moisten the dough and make it soft, not runny.
- Scoop 1 teaspoon of dough into balls and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Using a pastry brush or your fingers, brush the tops of each cookie with the remaining buttermilk and flatten them slightly. Sprinkle with sprinkles or sugar.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Let stand for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
