Royal Sazerac

Ingredients:

  • Anise liqueur (preferably Pernod or pastis)
  • 2 sugar cubes
  • 2-3 drops of bitters (preferably Peychaud's)
  • 60 ml rye whiskey
  • 2 large ice cubes
  • For serving: a chilled glass of Old Fashioned

Preparation:

  1. Pour a small amount of Pernod or Pastis into a chilled whiskey glass. Swirl to coat the glass, then pour. Moisten sugar cubes with bitters and drop them into the glass. Crush the cubes with a spoon or muddler. Add whiskey and 2 ice cubes. Shake and serve.
